FACTS// Texas is already facing a projected water shortage measured in trillions of gallons, while data centers are adding COLLOSSAL new demands for water, electricity, land and infrastructure. ERCOT’s queue contains more than 438,000 MW of proposed large-load demand, nearly 90% associated with data centers.
NOT TODAY, SERVERS// Austin does not need to become another data-center hub. Corporate interests will keep pushing until the public draws a line they cannot cross, moratorium and ban.
GOOD NEIGHBORS// San Marcos showed what this movement can look like. The Data Center Action Coalition, Save Our Springs and local residents turned the fight against the Mayberry data center into a broader campaign for local control. That work helped pave the way for San Marcos to become the first Texas city to prohibit data centers.
Austin has the same power. LETS USE IT.
Our Environmental Commission has already recommended a moratorium on new data centers in Austin and the ETJ. Now Council needs to hear from ALL OF US.
🚫 STOP THE DATA CENTER DRAIN.
