Two essays in two days?! IT’S BEHIND A PAYWALL!!! $8/month. Excerpt below

“But y’all don’t want to learn, though. That’s why y’all come into liberation spaces and fuck them up. That’s why y’all constantly steal from Black women. That’s why y’all can’t be out in the streets protesting in a meaningful, long-lasting way. That’s why y’all can’t boycott Meta while critiquing AI. That’s why y’all are fake as fuck, and that’s why this shit will never get better. And that’s why I remain an absurdist.

But also: I know it will get better when we learn the relational skills to build community that has an infrastructure of care, community that does not depend on white people or the state to save us. That is what I have seen evident in my own life.”

TEXAS!!!! WERE AT THE HOUSTON GALLERIA TMRW 10/16 AT 5PM AND AUSTIN’S BARTON CREEK SQUARE 10/17 AT 1PM!! SHOWS ARE FREE!

In 44 days my life is going to change forever. And I need advice.

This November I’ll be having a below knee amputation of my left leg. And I’m terrified.
Like many people I don’t do well with unknowns, and the number of unknowns that come with this surgery are endless. While I have a bit of practical knowledge around the surgery and the rehab timeline, there are many things I have very little knowledge on and other things I’m sure I haven’t thought of to even ask.

So to any amputee who is willing to share, I have a few questions:

If you had 44 days to prepare for your amputation, what would you do? What would you make sure you had ready? At home or for your hospital stay?

If you knew you had 44 days before losing a limb, what support systems would you put in place before hand? Many people say “Let me know if you need anything!” and I know they mean it, but I have no idea what I’ll need or what to ask for. And in the thick of it after the amputation, I’ll be in survival mode just trying to get used to my new life, so I won’t be thinking of how to tell people how they can be helpful.

So if you knew you had 44 days, what would you do?
