The @pplsriisearch has supplied resources on the effort to keep the people’s beach public. They will be present with stencils, stamps, and we will be constructing zines!

Neighbors, a trip to a donut shop in California turned into a confrontation after a customer questioned a woman working at the business about allegedly charging customers extra for using their debit cards. The incident happened at Lucky Donuts, located at 14700 S. Western Avenue, where the customer says he was simply explaining the difference between debit and credit card surcharge rules when the conversation took an ugly turn.

According to the man, the woman became increasingly upset after he challenged the additional fee, and he accused her of making racist remarks during the exchange. He later shared footage of the confrontation online, insisting he remained respectful throughout the disagreement. “All I did was politely inform this lady that she cannot charge customers for using their debit cards,” he wrote, adding that the woman’s alleged reaction exposed her racism.

The customer also argued that businesses should be responsible for their own payment processing expenses, declaring, “Customers don’t pay merchant fees, that’s the cost of being the boss.” California generally prohibits surcharges on debit card transactions, although certain properly disclosed pricing arrangements may be permitted.
