Maria Isabel is one of @bonappetitmag’s Best New Restaurants of 2026.

There are a lot of things we hoped this restaurant could become when we opened its doors. A place where Chef @lauraozyilmaz’s memories of Mexico could live alongside the ingredients and seasons of California. A place to cook food that feels deeply personal without being bound by what has come before. A place named for two women in her family, built with our own family of cooks, servers, farmers, makers, and friends around us.

To be recognized by Bon Appétit this early in our story means more than we can easily put into words.

Thank you to our team, who gives so much of themselves to this restaurant every day, and to everyone who has sat at our tables, told a friend about us, come back for another dinner, or simply been curious about what we’re doing here.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. And we still feel like we’re just getting started.
