Last two weekends we worked on a mural at the outside folding doors of @friesmuseum in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands.

We were commissioned to create an artwork celebrating Mata Hari, the Dutch exotic dancer and courtesan convicted of spying for Germany during World War I. (Later biographers argue she was condemned simply because the French Army needed a scapegoat.)

While researching a fitting concept for the mural, we discovered a stunning collection of Mata Hari movie posters. Interpreted time and again by leading directors and actors over the past century, this mural honors not only Mata Hari herself, but also the seemingly endless stream of inspiration her life has brought to the arts.

We gathered the A-team of painting to get this job done in four days:
