Imagine getting to the final stage and having to play a Pokémon Card Research Institute employee for the card. 😭 
 
 
This 2006 Battle Road Stadium promo was available at only four limit events in Japan from November 25th - December 17th. 
 
And you couldn’t just show up and get one. No Pokemon wouldn’t make it that easy... 
 
~First, you had to win 2 battles to advance to the second stage. 
~For the second stage, you then had to go and win 3 consecutive matches. (1 loss and you’re out) 
.... 
~Then, in the final stage, you had to beat a PCL researcher from the Pokémon Card Research Institute. (Literally someone who develops the TCG game, a straight up mod...) 
 
Win all that, and you get that mouthwatering holo with the Diamond & Pearl mascots of the era. 
 
So the people who ended up with one literally had to run a 5-win gauntlet, including a 3-game streak, before beating PCL in the final. 
 
The fact that this was even a distribution method is insane to me.
