This is the lavatory on a Boeing 747–8. It’s just over 2 feet wide, so plenty of room to get your business done. Smoking on airplanes was banned years ago. However, per FAA regulation, aircraft are still required to have an ashtray in case someone smokes. The industry would rather they have a safe place to put the ashes versus catching trash on fire. 🚭
