‌ اسماعیل کوثری، عضو کمیسیون امنیت ملی مجلس، در یک برنامه تلویزیونی درباره «محاصره هوایی آمریکا» گفت: «آن‌ها خودشان را ده‌ها سال ابرقدرت حساب می‌کردند و حالا که شکست خوردند می‌خواهند از همه راه‌ها وارد شوند و بگویند پیروز شدند، باید بگوییم که این مساله قابل حل است، چون بلایی به سرشان خواهیم آورد که خودشان پشیمان شوند.» کوثری افزود: «این کاری که از روی نادانی خودشان و عدم شناخت از منطقه و کشورهای همسایه انجام دادند، طولانی‌مدت نخواهد بود.» او گفت: «این کار نمی‌تواند تداوم داشته باشد چون کشورها با هم رابطه دارند و ما به دور زدن تحریم‌ها عادت داریم. ۴۷ سال است که ما را تحریم اقتصادی کردند و ما این روال را دنبال کردیم و خیلی جاها به طور کامل موفق شدیم و این مسائل هم به همین صورت است.» عضو کمیسیون امنیت ملی مجلس درباره «محاصره هوایی آمریکا علیه ایران» گفت: «این کار روی نفهمی مسئولین آن‌ها و در راس آن ترامپ است چون این کار، موضوع خدماتی است که کاملا با مردم سروکار دارد. با این کارهایشان دارند کاری می‌کنند که افرادی که شاید درصدی آمریکا را قبول داشتند، دیگر به طور کامل آن را قبول ندارند.»
