“Nos Cuidamos” | 2026 | woodcut relief | 14x16

My artwork, “Nos cuidamos”, is a representation of community showing up for one another to take care of each other, during the good and the bad times. Growing up in the Central Valley this has always been the way for me. When tragedy struck in my community, people who had worked with their hands all day under the humbling sun showed up at your doorstep. They showed up with heavy-duty trash bags full of almonds, boxes of sweet potatoes and the juiciest, sweetest peaches that they had harvested that day. Not only does the Central Valley feed the majority of this nation but it feeds its own community with love, care and support. When the LA protest happened on June 6th 2025 it felt as though the whole state of California was grieving, I know my community was. But what I witnessed during the aftermath is community showing up for one another to help process and heal just like I witnessed as a child.
