The preliminary round was due to be played on Saturday 1st October, Burton Swifts had a Football League match that day in the newly formed Second Division. The League match took priority over over the Cup game so Burton brought not only the match forward by a couple of days, but also the kick-off, by several hours from a normal start time, so their players could go to work or fulfil other weekday commitments. Burton won the match 3-0 against the team who would become Coventry City and progressed through four more qualifying rounds before coming up against mighty (at the time) Preston North End of the First Division in First round proper. End of story. They lost that one 9-2. #fi #bahraingp #England #celebritytraitors #strictly
