This weekend we gathered at
@wendemuseum to celebrate the audiobook launch of Baghdad Underground Railroad by Steve Miska. This important memoir reveals how Steve created an underground network to help Iraqi interpreters escape persecution, offering insights into wartime compassion, the relationships built under impossible circumstances, and a detailed explanation of just how interpreters help U.S. troops, the tight friendship and almost familial relationships they build, and the troubles these allies face as they wait for their special visas to clear so they and their families can enter the United States.
Steve served as an officer in the United States Army for 25 years, served in the White House as Director for Iraq on the National Security Council, and led a
@nooneleftbehindus 24-hour hotline to organize evacuations for Afghan allies for over two years.
Steve can be followed at
@wranglingandwriting, as he travels the U.S. on a self-guided equine therapy tour of our vast, beautiful country.
