CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has challenged Delhi Police to release the entire video of his detention, accusing officers of showing edited footage and denying him access to his phone and lawyer. His remarks came after Delhi Police released a video showing officers informing him about his grandmother’s death and offering assistance to contact his family and travel home. Speaking in Hingoli, Maharashtra, Dipke said the released footage did not show his repeated requests to speak to his cousin, use his phone for two minutes and contact his lawyer. Challenging the police, he said, “If the Delhi Police have the courage, they should release the entire video.” Dipke alleged that officers had denied him the opportunity to contact his lawyer despite his repeated requests. He argued that the public should be allowed to see the complete footage to understand what happened during his detention, rather than rely on what he described as an edited version. He also questioned the police’s explanation that officers had informed him of his grandmother’s death and offered to let him return home for the last rites. Dipke asked why officers had approached him with arrest papers at around 3:30 am if they did not want him to remain in custody. The controversy escalated after Delhi Police released the footage to counter allegations that Dipke had been prevented from contacting his family. Police maintained that officers offered to help him communicate with relatives and arrange travel home, while Dipke disputed their account and demanded that the complete video be made public. The dispute has now centred on competing accounts of his treatment during detention. While the police video shows an offer of assistance, Dipke says it does not capture his repeated requests for phone and lawyer access. The complete footage has become central to his demand for transparency over the incident.
