Last Sunday I had the pleasure to be a guest at the Speakers Dinner of the @productatheart_ Leadership Event. It took place in the famous rosemary greenhouse of @sannmann_gaertnerei, a beautiful farm and one of my favorite places just outside of Hamburg.

I always wanted to connect plants to my music machines, so this was probably the best opportunity: all the vegies we used were harvested on site, the young plants grew in the greenhouse next door. They were connected to sensors to translate their tiny electrical current into data that triggered notes and modulated a synthesizer.

I really loved the vibe of this place and the people gathered there. I played a very short set and was most amazed by people joining for some knob twiddling. It was basically an open installation, and between courses or two drinks, people could immerse themselves in a little experimental electronic music making.

The setup consisted of the #playtron and #biotron by @playtronica to connect the plants to the machines, @fors.fm #pivot as the single source of sound, the @makenoisemusic #strega, @gamechanger_audio #lightpedal and some more guitar pedals for sound processing. And of course, all orchestrated by @ableton Live (I recognized I often forget to mention it because it doesn’t feel like a tool anymore, it has become irreplaceable infrastructure for everything I do when it comes to music). The radish pictured played a central role in case you wonder.

Thanks so much for having me. I enjoyed this a lot as you can probably tell from these wonderful photos taken by @enverhirsch. ♥️ taken in Demeter Gärtnerei Sannmann by @nitrada

I hated tomatoes as a kid, and it wasn’t until I was past 20 that I fell for them. So it feels oddly rewarding to present a little plant music set at a farm celebrating… tomatoes! I was relieved when I learnt that Alina, the owner of the farm who grew up there had the same late-blooming love for them.

What a beautiful day at @sannmann_gaertnerei with my dear friends @playgroundcoffee! Thank you for having us and for that refreshing swim in the lake to end the day. 😍 #tomaten #tomatenfest #tomatenmusik

I just came back from Athens, where I spent a few wonderful days at @houseofbeautifulbusiness for their World Beautiful Business Forum. Which is also the reason why I wasn’t able to attend @superbooth_berlin this year for the first time in the last couple of years.

I still cannot fully grasp the last few days within a city I loved at first sight, together with people I knew before and even more people I had the pleasure to meet for the first time.

And do I really need to comprehend all this? I left a beautiful place and all these great souls full of love and gratitude and the anticipation to meet again. And with more questions than answers. Beautiful.

I was there with my dear friends Michael and Rönke that together run a product called @take_aw.ai for which I help them with the design. It captures personal reflections of participants recorded into their phones like a voice message and synthesizes them into collective insight. The person on the picture is currently recording their perspective on a hill next to the Akropolis and I think it captures the vibe really well. taken in Acropolis of Athens by @nitrada

This is the last piece of Jamuary 26. Thank you @fors.fm #pivot for being such a loyal, ever inspiring and surprising companion. And everyone else: thanks for coming back and taking the time to listen to some of the pieces. I had a lot of fun and I am very thoroughly thinking about possible ongoing session rituals. Maybe not daily, but on some kind of regular basis. Love, Christophe taken in Hamburg, Germany by @nitrada

This was one of the happy accidents I love happening with yesterday‘s piece: It’s created 100% with trial & error randomization in @fors.fm #opalctrl going to a single instance of #pivot. Also not much tweaking on the outboard gear, I just enjoyed being immersed in the inner lives of my music machines going autonomous. taken in Hamburg, Germany by @nitrada
