PhonePe has completed 10 years in India, and to mark the milestone, the digital payments platform has released a special ad film celebrating the people who have been part of its journey.
For the film, PhonePe brings in record-holder artist Shahu. He is known for saying 494 words in one minute, a record confirmed by the India Book of Records in August 2024.
In the new campaign, Shahu takes the tribute to the streets. Standing in the middle of the city with a saxophone, he announces the names of PhonePe users, turning an everyday digital payment experience into a public celebration of the people behind the platform.
The idea connects to PhonePe’s decade-long journey, which has grown from a digital payments app into a platform used by hundreds of millions of people across India. PhonePe says it crossed 700 million, or 70 crore, lifetime registered users on April 29, 2026.
The latest film takes that idea further by putting the users at the centre of the anniversary. Rather than only celebrating the company completing a decade, PhonePe uses the campaign to recognise the millions of people who have been part of its growth.
From its early days as a UPI payments app to reaching 70 crore registered users, PhonePe’s 10-year journey has been closely linked with the growing use of digital payments in India.
And this time, its anniversary message is simple: the decade belongs not just to PhonePe, but also to the people who made the journey possible.
