October in Salmon Arm and the Shuswap is packed with fall traditions, community events and plenty of Halloween fun. From the return of the sockeye to pumpkins, hockey and trick-or-treating downtown, there’s lots happening around the Shuswap this month.

Here are a few October dates to add to your calendar:

🍎 Salmon Arm Apple Festival | October 10
Head downtown to Ross Street Plaza from 9 AM–1 PM for a celebration of local apples, orchards and agriculture alongside the Downtown Farmers Market.

🐟 Salute to the Sockeye Festival | October 9–25
A big one for 2026! This year marks a dominant sockeye return, which happens every four years. Head to Tsútswecw Provincial Park to experience one of the Shuswap’s most incredible natural events.

🎃 Spooktacular at R.J. Haney Heritage Village | October 24 & 25
Halloween takes over the Heritage Village with the Pumpkin Patch Path, midway, Mad Scientist, haunted attractions, Spooky Trail and more.

🍬Downtown Salmon Arm Treat Trail | October 30, 3–5 PM
Costumes on and treat bags ready! Bring the kids downtown as participating businesses hand out treats for an afternoon of Halloween fun.

🏒 Halloween Night Silverbacks Game | October 31, 7 PM
Finish off October by cheering on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks as they take on the West Kelowna Warriors at Rogers Rink.

What are you looking forward to most this October? Let us know in the comments!
