A controversial classic that is "a must for any rebellious teenager" is Lauren Laverne's nomination for The Book That Changed My Life. Lauren read this novel surreptitiously in English class aged 15...⁣ ⁣ 📺 The Book That Changed My Life. Watch on #iPlayer.
🚨 THREE TIMES NOW! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! For the third time during this election campaign, my campaign signs have gone missing or been knocked down. This time, at the busy Jane & Finch intersection. What's interesting is that Anthony Peruzza's signs are still standing, while mine are nowhere to be found or are lying on the ground. Is it a coincidence? Maybe. But after three incidents, I have some serious questions. I am not making accusations about who is responsible, but I am calling for fairness, respect, and accountability throughout this election. Every candidate deserves a fair opportunity to have their message seen and heard. Residents deserve an election focused on the issues that matter most, not disappearing campaign signs. You can take down a sign, but you cannot erase 20 years of community service, dedication, and commitment to the people of Humber River–Black Creek. My focus remains on the residents of Ward 7 and bringing the change our community deserves. 🗳️ October 26 — Vote Amanda Coombs! #VoteAmandaCoombs #Ward7 #HumberRiverBlackCreek #FairElections #CommunityFirst
An Auckland woman was sentenced to two months in jail after her dog, Nuggi, died from severe obesity. She told SPCA officers she fed him eight to 10 pieces of chicken a day on top of his regular dog biscuits. Nuggi was discovered in 2021 weighing almost 120 pounds and barely able to move. She was also ordered to pay $1,222.15 in reparations and banned from owning animals. A necropsy later revealed Nuggi also had liver disease and Cushing’s disease. The SPCA’s chief executive described him as “one of the most obese animals we’ve ever come across.” Via SPCA #Pubity #Viral #Wildlife

This dip shocked me when I first learned how to make it from my friend. Just a can of sweetened condensed milk? It felt too good to be true. The best part is that you can make it in advance and store in the fridge until you need it! It’s a family favorite and is much easier than the whole dipping apple/make a mess process. Note: this is called Dulce de leche in many parts of the world, it’s delicious with shortbread cookies, in Peru they are called Alfajores. Ingredients 1 can sweetened condensed milk 4 apples of your choice 1/4 cup nuts, I prefer pecans, crushed. Directions - Place can in a pot and cover with water. Place on the stove and bring to a boil. Cover, then simmer for 2 hours. Let rest for 30 mins then open can and place caramel on a plate. Top with nuts, serve warm or store in the can in the fridge for the next day!
