One week of Stocking Your Shelves in September and look at what we’ve got! 🥹🌿🫙

In just one week I’ve:

🌿 Dehydrated oregano + rosemary and added them to my spice jars
🌼 Dehydrated calendula + chamomile for my tea stash
🥔 Made and froze mashed potatoes in ready to use portions
🍅 Canned 10 pints of tomato sauce using my garden tomatoes
🧅 Made and canned 5 pints of French onion soup base for an easy, cozy meal later
🤎 Made vanilla sugar for coffee and baking

And this is only WEEK ONE! 😂

I’m honestly having so much fun with this challenge because I’m not just filling shelves, I’m also experimenting with new recipes, preserving what I have, using things before they go to waste, and slowly building a stash of homemade food that Future Me is going to be VERY happy about.

If this is what one week looks like… I’m a little nervous (and very excited 😂) to see what the rest of September brings!

Do you compost kitchen scraps? I was surprised to see potato peels going into the garbage.

I just bought an instant pot, it’ll be delivered in about 2 days. Just to say: I’m very very new at this game. Therefore I genuinely would like to learn about those mashed potatoes: do you have to put the trivet in when making potatoes in the instant pot?

You don't even need the inside of the vanilla beans to make vanilla sugar. We use it for cake batters and similar and only the peels end up in the jar with sugar. That's enough to give the sugar some flavour and I get even more out of one bean.
