The MN State Fair may be over, but the typography inspo lives on!!! 🎪🌭✨🐄
One of my favorite parts of the fair every year is just walking around and LOOKING. There is so much incredible sign painting, weird typography, color, illustration, layering, and general visual chaos packed into one place. Truly a graphic designer’s dream (or nightmare for others)
Every year I end up taking approximately 900 photos of signs, but the Hot Dog Corn Dog stand is THE ONE. My favorite forever. I am required to take a picture of it every year like I don’t already have 14 versions of the exact same in my camera roll.
And apparently I am not alone!!! When I posted it earlier, a couple other local designers replied saying they take a picture of it every year too. A local celebrity!
There is just something so good about State Fair design because absolutely no one is afraid of doing too much. Hand-painted letters! Outlines! Drop shadows! Tiny illustrations! Five different typefaces! Colors on colors on colors! Why choose one thing when you can have ALL OF THEM?!
A tiny yearly reminder that sometimes more really is more.
MAXIMALISM!!!!!!!!! 💛🌻🎡🎢🎟️🍪
