Critically acclaimed Regents Opera
@regentsopera and New Palace Opera are honoured to introduce rising star Catharine Woodward
@cat_woodward singing the title role in their concert performance of Richard Strauss’ monumental tragedy and operatic masterpiece Elektra.
Described as “resplendent” and “assured” by The Telegraph, and “glorious” and “magnificent” by The Times and Seen and Heard respectively, Catharine has become known as a specialist in German repertoire.
“Her soprano voice has blossomed into a fine Wagnerian one and she is already in demand at the Royal Opera House and Regents Opera in Wagner roles.” Seen and Heard International.
In music that encompasses both the horrific and the heart-breaking the cast and orchestra led by Ben Woodward
@benjaminjwoodward will assure you a gripping and memorable evening.

#elektra #richardstrauss #blackheathhalls #opera Catharine made her debut as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre for Regents Opera in London in 2023 and went on to sing two complete cycles for the company in February 2025.
In 2024 & 2025 she performed Gerhilde Die Walküre in the Valentin Schwarz Ring conducted by Simone Young at the Bayreuther Festspiele. She appears on “Wagner By Arrangement Volume 3“ on Toccata Classics. In concert, she has sung Isolde Tristan & Isolde (Act II) at the Tonhalle Zürich with Akademische Orchester Zürich conducted by Martin Lukas Meister. In the 25/26 season, alongside her acclaimed debut as Isolde for Longborough Festival Opera, Catharine sang Gerhilde in Wuppertal with conductor Patrick Hahn, Aufseherin Elektra in Dresden with Sir Donald Runnicles, and covered Brünnhilde Siegfried for the Royal Ballet & Opera, Covent Garden. In 26/27 she will make her debut at RBO as Dritte Norn Götterdämmerung (Pappano/Kosky) and sing her first full Kundry Parsifal (following New Palace Opera‘s concert performance of Act 2) for Regents Opera (Woodward/Pountney).
