🇺🇸American teenager Garret Tan produced one of the biggest shocks of the 2026 Badminton World Championships, defeating 🇮🇳India’s Lakshya Sen with an all-women coaching team in his corner.
The 18-year-old world No. 92 beat the 14th-seeded Sen 19-21, 21-19, 21-17 in New Delhi, with childhood coach Paula Lynn and fellow USA player Lauren Lam guiding him courtside.
Their influence went beyond encouragement. Lynn and Lam helped devise the tactical plan to keep Sen away from the front court, slow the pace when required and help Tan maintain his composure under pressure from a partisan home crowd.
Tan, competing at his first World Championships, described the win as a major breakthrough in his young career. #badminton #coachingduo #femalecoach
