This one’s a little different — because this time, the truck came to us. 🤝

After the 2024 rally, we heard from Ralf and Kathleen Sarek of Sarek Autowerke (Richmond, VA) — and they had an idea: what if we drove their specially built 2022 Defender 90 for Rebelle 2025?

We said yes before they finished the sentence. 😅

What followed was a year of support we’re still a little blown away by — getting out to run this truck across New Mexico, Virginia, Colorado, Utah, and California before rally week even started.

I briefly played w/ Sir Patrick Stewart on a sitcom called “Blunt Talk”. I wasn’t even a big Trek guy, but I knew of his global renown, his commitment to the craft, and his genre-agnostic approach that spanned Shakespearian theater, David Lynch, Mel Brooks, the Old Testament, Stan Lee, Charles Dickens; from the brilliant comic mind of Seth MacFarlane to the darkened door of Jeremy Saulnier. I improvised something when we shot and kinda “went for it”. Symptoms of the disease of thirst. “Only a few lines of dialogue but GOD do I want to shine!” My improv and boldness made Stewart break character and after one take in particular, Michael Lehmann yelled “Cut!” and Sir Patrick started a round of applause and stared at me, mid clap, with a smirk and a knowing look of some kind. Later that day, we were standing at craft service and he told me some anecdotes about he and Sir Ian McKellan, and when I told him I was an aspiring writer/director, he said “Well, I hope you’ll consider me when you’re ready. I’m with ICM and Circle of Confusion-“ The generosity and humility, from my vantage point, was off the charts. He’ll be missed for a great many performances, but I’ll miss him for his performance as “self”. It made a budding, and deeply thirsty, actor feel welcome and celebrated.
