a month agoSix years ago in Chicago. At the same time I was creating this installation, I was also running a national mural campaign for Nissan—art directing, designing, fabricating, and coordinating installations in Venice Beach, Los Angeles; Chicago; and Brooklyn, NYC—all happening in the same week. It was one of those periods where everything was moving at once: artwork, production, crews, logistics, deadlines, and installations in three different cities. And then, during the final days of the projects, I had a wedding in Italy. I had to leave the U.S. while everything was still happening and trust the teams, the planning, and the process we had built. Looking back six years later, I realize how much that moment shaped the way I work today. It wasn’t only about making the art. It was about learning how to take an idea from a drawing to fabrication, manage multiple teams, solve problems in real time, and deliver large-scale work across different cities simultaneously. This Chicago piece was happening right in the middle of all of it. Art direction. Design. Fabrication. Installation. Logistics. Trust. Sometimes you don’t realize you’re building the foundation for what comes next while you’re in the middle of it.
