So to cap it all up I think and believe every creative should be able to draw what I would call a value map around their work by answering the following questions:

What is the primary thing I make?

Who pays for it?

What exactly are they paying for?

What part of the value can be experienced again?

What part can be licensed?

What part can be taught?

What part can be documented?

What part can another person or institution distribute?

What part can create a relationship that leads to another transaction?

What part can become intellectual property?

What part can appreciate because more people begin to care about it?

And lastly, what am I currently giving away simply because I have never stopped to price it?

It pains me a lot that I see a lot of creatives busy every month and they are still operating far below their maximum capacity revenue because they have only monetised one layer of what they produce.

And this is one of the reasons why I am increasingly interested and pushing the notion that your craft is the beginning of the transaction, not necessarily the end of it.

P.S : Before you create more, have you extracted the full value of what you already created? ☕️
