𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲’𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧? 🫧

Today im starting a new chapter - I’m joining the Federal Ministry for Digitalisation and State Modernisation (BMDS) through the Work4Germany Fellowship to explore this question together with the first German “Change-Referat.” 🦄✨

The ministry, founded just a year ago, has an ambitious mission: to help build a modern, efficient and digitally capable state — by driving public sector innovation, strengthening digital infrastructures, reducing bureaucracy, and making collaboration and processes across Germany’s federal ministries more future-ready.

This “house” brings together around 700 people from six different federal institutions, each with their own cultures, histories and ways of working, under one roof. Helping to build a shared identity as a foundation for more effective, trusting and future-ready collaboration will be at the heart of my work there. 🥹💘

I feel this work sits at the intersection of so many things that matter deeply in our current world: bridging “old” and “new” systems, cultivating togetherness to tackle the big questions of our time, enabling learning, strengthening our capacity for change, and nurturing emotional and relational intelligence — creating the conditions for new ways of working to actually take root. 🌱

And in the context of strengthening our democracy, this feels more important than ever. Supporting public sector organisations in becoming not only more efficient, but also more human-centred in how they work, can help create institutions that people can trust and believe in. 💛

I’m deeply curious to see what emerges from this journey — and incredibly excited and honoured to have been trusted with the opportunity to contribute.
