Artwork in Focus |
Exploring the deep connection between nature’s transformations and human resilience, Deepanwita Das’ artistic practice draws on her lifelong love for organic forms and the hidden intelligence of plants.
Rooted in the architectural heritage and floral motifs of old Kolkata houses, the work bridges personal memory with historical narrative.
In the featured works, colonial architectural elements like cast-iron railings and neoclassical floral motifs are reimagined with contemporary drawings of wild flora. Utilizing copper through printmaking techniques like engraving, etching, and inlay, some artworks reflect the passage of time, struggle, and transformation, bridging past and present through material history.
