There’s so much Kona spam to come so let’s not milk this recap; 🏊‍♀️ horrendous swim 0/10. Lost my goggles right before the start and made a new friend, Jess, who kindly gave me her spare! Forgot my pre-swim and some bike nutrition in my white bag so was also running around with an army of volunteers who were all amazing and found it for me. The actual swim was so swelly. I knew it was going to be a slow day and I’m proud of the time I did considering. Was not a fan of getting pushed by a yellow cap man from wave after. The whole swim was a mental and physical battle that I eventually overcame because I didn’t come this far to falter at the first hurdle. 🚴‍♀️ Anyone that says the bike course is boring is lying though. Some of the most stunning scenes in sections and I had so much fun on the rolling hills and was anticipating a 5 hour split until the headwind took that dream away💀 I listened to coach and kept my HR steady to save some for the run. Still buzzing with 71st female bike including the pros 🥹 🏃🏼‍♀️ Hot and humid. Best words to describe it. I was managing okay in the first 10km and the vibes in Kona/up Palani were impeccable👌🏼 But then turning left onto the Queen K is where it got hard. The sun came out and was just scorching the left side of my face for miles. I didn’t find the energy lab much hotter than the test of the course. Every aid stations I was slamming the ice and coke. Again, kept my pace and heart rate controlled and had a strong finish. A really tough but rewarding day out. I can put Kona behind me for now and focus on what’s next because we aren’t done yet 👀
As you’re probably aware, Travis Kelce is currently in hot water after people spotted that he liked Shane Gillis’s controversial opening monologue from this past weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live on Instagram. If you somehow managed to miss the whole thing, Shane has been widely criticized for his misogynistic comments in the monologue, where he called women “whores” and bitches. Considering the current climate amid the highly publicized Cornell University lawsuit, the whole thing left a bad taste in people’s mouths, with one viral tweet summing up the discourse with: “the normalization of casual misogyny like this directly contributes to rape culture. if you’re against what happened at cornell, you need to be against this too.” Other celebrities came out against Shane’s monologue, too, including Dan Levy, whose impassioned Instagram post calling out Shane, SNL, and men as a whole ended up going viral. And this sentiment only made Travis’s response all the more disappointing, with eagle-eyed followers noting that both Travis and Cara Delevingne had liked SNL’s social media post of the monologue.
