2026 NATIONAL CHAMPION -66kg 🥇💪🤓

🇦🇺 Measurable progress on all 4 lifts, including an all-time personal best chin up (heavier than I’d ever even attempted before) plus 4 new National Records (chin, dip, squat & total)
✅ Successfully got every rep I tried (10/10 attempts because I didn’t want or need to do a 3rd on chins or dips)
🚀 Added 10kg to my total & finally scored >100 RIS (Relative Index of Streetlifting)
🌏 Currently 11th highest ever competition total in -66kg weight class worldwide

This was an absolutely MASSIVE long weekend of competing, coaching & coordinating shenanigans so I just want to say an even more massive THANK YOU to everyone who was involved in this truly incredible 3-day event - especially our SLA officials, certified judges, local & international equipment & prize sponsors, transport/logistics team, plate loaders & spotters, athletes, media crew, expo staff & supporting friends/family/coaches 🫶🤩 taken in AusFitness Expo by @drnickraymond

2025 AUSSIE STREETLIFTING FINALS 💪🤓🥇

✅ MU: +20kg (+1kg comp PB)
✅ PULL: +80kg* (+2kg comp PB)
✅ DIP: +112.5kg
✅ SQUAT: 180kg* (+7kg comp PB)

⬆️ Total: 392.5kg* (8.5kg total)
⬇️ Bodyweight: 63.5kg
⬆️ Relative Index of Streetlifting: 95.6

🥇 1st place male <70kg in Aus
🥈 2nd overall male with 95.6 RIS
🇦🇺 *3x new National Records (& I still hold the +115kg dip record)
🌏 Offically now ranked 27th in the world in the <66kg weight class 🤯

Although not a perfect performance (dips were especially disappointing because I’ve done +120kg before), I definitely gave it everything I had on the day & I’m really proud of myself for that.

Next time though, would I still…
🤔 Cut 5kg in the 5 days before competing & risk losing a few kg on my dip, squat & total for a slightly higher RIS?
🤔 Go away to Europe with my gorgeous girlfriend for another 3-week trip getting back only days before finals?
🤔 Turn up to comp already sore, tired & cramping from dragging a literal TON of gym equipment from my gym in Newcastle to the Fitness Expo in Sydney so this 3-day event could even happen?

YES, of course I’d do it all again! 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️

Lifting heavy circles with mates is mad fun… but so is making memories with your favourite people outside of the gym! 🥰

Special thanks to:
😍 Mariah (she is literally PERFECT)
🫶 Mum & Dad (always my biggest fans)
🤝 Ben for being both an awesome mate & even better squat coach @purposetrainingsystems
👏 All my people @adventurereadycoaching, especially my gym members & PT/online clients (Jemma, Hamish, Jane, Chantal & Dave) who also competed last weekend - brilliant efforts & results all round, including many new PBs, national & world records, podium finishes & medals!
🫶 The entire @streetliftingaustralia community for such incredible passion, encouragement & competition. Expo events like this always require a massive team effort & we quite literally could not have done it without Hamish, Jodie, Jordan, Elli, Karla, Tom, Chris, Alex & many more, so thanks again to all involved.

@drnickraymond – equal parts STRONG AS HELL and all round top human being 💁🏻‍♂️

After filming this, Nick achieved some of the goals he mentioned, particularly setting FOUR new Australian national records in Streetlifting 🇦🇺

Best of luck to Nick in the Streetlifting Asia-Pacific Championship in a couple of weeks! 🍀

Shout out to @unbound.au for the brilliant footage of the Australian finals 📽️

Chin ups are already hard enough…

… but successfully doing a chin up with an extra +86.25kg attached @ only 65.4kg bodyweight (+131%), in an official @streetliftingaustralia competition with 3 judges watching from different angles to ensure super strict form standards are fully met - well, that’s a whole different level of difficulty entirely 😅

This is the sort of situation where all the tiny 1% details can actually make-or-break the lift, so I refuse to take any chances with my equipment - especially the weight belt.

The @kingofweighted weight belt is by far the best I’ve ever personally tried, for multiple reasons:

🎯 The low-profile design distributes the load very comfortably on my hips/glutes, unlike most other thicker/wider belts that ride up to settle higher around my waist & painfully arch my lower back with heavy weights.

🎯 Ultra light (<500g) & super strong (300kg+ load rated) construction means no wasted efforts because in competitions, the extra plates you’ve added are the only weights that actually count (using a heavier belt is a disadvantage).

🎯 Secure & reliable fit because the belt comes in 3 sizes, & includes 3 carabiners, which are also rated to 12kn (~1200kg) despite only weighing 25g each.

🎯 Metal chains often damage your skin, clothes & plates - but the smooth nylon daisy chain puts an immediate end to all that distracting unpleasantness.

🎯 The extra long (150cm) daisy chain with 12 holes (also laboratory-tested to 300kg per hole) is also extremely easy to adjust, so you can very quickly find your perfect position/height & confidently control your weight plates throughout every single rep/set for ultimate consistency, stability & output.

So, if you also want a stronger chin up, use my -10% code ‘CHINUP’ @kingofweighted to save a few bucks on a belt that’s already been tried, tested & perfected 🤝

Well, I think it’s safe to say that this chin up session has been pretty much the only thing that’s actually gone as planned since last Sunday.

Long story short - a few hours before training, I’d noticed my digestion feeling ‘off’ (I’m not giving more details on here)… but over the next few hours, this unexpectedly & radically escalated into some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced (& I’ve had multiple life/limb-threatening injuries before so this was honestly really scary).

Since then, I’ve spent the entire week in bed, with the only exception being a specialist appointment where I was told this was a freakishly unlucky incident with nothing I could’ve done differently to prevent it, nor anything that should be done surgically for a faster/better outcome, & then I was sent home with more pain meds to wait for this to self-resolve over the next 2-4 weeks (hopefully).

Along the way, I also had a few adverse reactions to some of the pain meds (not a fun time) but my body is finally on the mend now so I should be back in the gym coaching again next week (yay!)

I am currently unable to brace my core properly (& this effects everything) so it is still unclear whether it will even be possible for me to safely compete on Nov 6 in Singapore - which obviously wasn’t easy to hear from the specialist, but I’m stoked enough with my recovery so far given that initially, I could barely even walk/talk due to pain.

Thankfully, this wouldn’t be the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd time I’ve bounced back to overcome near impossible odds though… so I’ll just keep trying my best, making one good decision at a time with the information I have & leaning on my people for support (especially Mum, Dad & @mariah.stock) - because I’m actually really proud to say that many of my personal & professional successes have been direct results of such collaborative efforts 🫶

& thanks again to everyone who sent me a message to check in, kindly wished me a speedy recovery & has been so patient with my absence 🙏 I am acutely aware of how lucky & loved I am, & I never take my people, privilege, health or opportunities for granted.

We didn’t come this far to only come this far ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 taken in Adventure Ready Coaching by @drnickraymond

Winning competitions is actually pretty easy when you…

1️⃣ Train hard enough that you actually fail sometimes 😉 When approached correctly, training to failure does not have to be a overall negative & demoralising experience, & it can actually provide uniquely positive learning opportunities that then help you make more educated decisions & more accurate weight selections in the future.
2️⃣ Pay attention to all the specific details that the competition judges will be looking for (filmed from the exact same angles they will actually be watching you from) so your reps can become truly UNDENIABLE 🎯

Life has been super chaotic but it’s super important to us to make time for those who are important to us. We had the best time at Judy & Paul’s wedding in beautiful Bali 🌴💕

Thank you @jubisworld & @px.pxx for having us as at your special day. I’m not crying, you’re crying 🤪

🥇 National Champion -66kg @streetliftingaustralia for the 2nd year in a row now.

🥈 2nd Overall Male with 101.27 RIS (Relative Index of Streetlifting)

💪 4 new National Records secured, including a strict chin up of +86.25kg @ 65.4kg BW, which was the heaviest I’ve ever even attempted & as far as I know, is currently the strongest pull:bodyweight ratio (+131%) ever completed by anyone within an Australian competition (across all weight classes).

🌏 At this point in time, 425kg was also the 11th highest ever competition total in -66kg weight class worldwide @official_streetlifting

🤓 None of this happened by accident. I worked hard to overcome countless challenges to make this happen, am really proud of my athletic achievements & hope this success can provide some inspiration & encouragement to other people out there that they can also improve their fitness & do amazing things! taken in Adventure Ready Coaching by @drnickraymond
