The cover for my graphic novel, published by @kugalimedia's Kugali Ink, an imprint of @disneybooks was finalised by Daniel Tawia Quartey and Etubi Onucheyo.
The inspiration for this composition was entirely homegrown! I wanted to bring a little piece of Zimbabwe πΏπΌ into the world of Runeless by drawing on our beautiful balancing rocks, natural formations that have become both a celebrated wonder and an enduring national symbol.
I started with a series of sketches, experimenting with how the rocks could frame the three protagonists while also hinting at the larger mystery surrounding them. At the centre of it all is that looming, shadowy figure... the presence controlling the magic of their world.
Seeing those early sketches evolve into the final piece has been incredibly rewarding, and Iβm really proud of how it came together. I canβt wait for you to finally see it on shelves when Runeless hits stores on 6 October!
