@insearchof.cc@corinna_gratzl@juliaklass.euEveryone knows the drink kombucha.
The symbiotic culture of yeast and bacteria forms the basis of a sustainable homemade beverage beyond the global soft-drink industry. Instead of consuming the kombucha, however, the by-product of the process is used: the membrane formed during fermentation. Like a second skin, it clings to the body. Its appearance is unusual; its smell is intense; the cool, absorbent, jelly-like material presses against the skin, producing gurgling and smacking sounds as we move. Nothing about it feels ordinary.
The work aims to provoke reflection on skin, clothing, protection, and vulnerability. Through the aesthetic attraction of the material, movement, and physicality, questions emerge that often remain outside our everyday perception.
