Georgetown's Women's Health Nurse Practitioner graduates passed the National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification exam on the first try at a rate of 95% in 2025; the national average was 80%. Our midwifery students passed the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) certification exam on the first try at a rate of 84% in 2025; the national average was 74%. These above-average pass rates reflect the expertise of Georgetown’s faculty and their commitment to preparing students for clinical practice.
Faculty at the Berkley School of Nursing put that experience into a test preparation book so students anywhere can benefit from their knowledge.
Georgetown Midwifery & WHNP Board Review prepares students and graduates for the certification examinations administered by the AMCB and the NCC. More than 700 multiple-choice questions, written and reviewed by Georgetown faculty, clinicians and alumni, with content review, rationales and references.
"This is us putting all our efforts forward to help grow and diversify the midwifery and women's health nurse practitioner workforce," said Heather Bradford, PhD, CNM, FACNM, lead editor and assistant program director.
Bradford co-edited the book with Katie Atkin, DNP, WHNP-BC, ANP-BC, and Melicia Escobar, DNP, CNM, WHNP-BC, FACNM. The three received Georgetown's 2026 Commercialization Award for the work.
Grounded in cura personalis, the book also covers study skills, time management, self-reflection and building an individualized study plan. All proceeds from the sales of the book support the program's Student Emergency Fund.
Dean Roberta Waite calls it "such a gift to the profession."
