I want to ask how it can be that it is September already. At the same time, it feels like lifetimes have past since I was beginning the year with a week in silence & digital detox.
Delighting in the late summer sun (but if it were my choice, I’d be deep in autumn weather already).
I went for a walk by the sea and I couldn’t stop turning the pages of The Blue Castle. Few books have left me with such a deep reminder to not let life slip through your fingers. To not wait. To allow yourself to go after your dreams. To not be afraid to say out loud what it is that you want. And especially, to not stay in places where you simply cannot blossom.
It was also such a comforting read, especially the parts about the trees and the seasons, and the moments on the island.
“If you can sit in silence with a person for half an hour and yet be entirely comfortable, you and that person can be friends. If you cannot, friends you’ll never be and you need not waste time in trying.”
- The Blue Castle
I started painting autumn colors. Painting for me I noticed is like food, I fall in love with painting one thing and then I paint it over and over again until I get bored. Then I go searching for the next inspiration.
I‘ve been feeling drawn to old movies lately, it feels like there is less over stimulation. The more I connect with my body, the more I notice the impact things have on me, the more I choose a slower pace and less input.
I had never watched an Al Pacino movie. During summer I watched Scent of a Woman (oh so good. I think we all need a little -Colonel Frank from that scene on the podium- in our lives.).
Tofu dark chocolate mousse and almond butter oat layers. The best sugar free whilst still being so indulgent dessert.
