One thing we love about working in education is learning from each other: colleagues with specific subject expertises and a passion for high-quality teaching. As staff, we have multiple days each year where we get together as a Faculty or University and have a conference-style day with panels and workshops as our staff CPD. Learning from each other and sharing experiences is the best way to grow as a community.

This was our Education Day last week – starting the year right!

Here you see Dr Laura Clarke, our Director of the Institute of Education, discussing the importance of active and immersive learning.

The panel was chaired by Dr Cathy Gower, our Dean of Faculty, who made sure to include ideas on embodied learning.

The day also included the launch of our Generative AI Statement : eight values and principles that guide our use of artificial intelligence.

This week we’re excited to welcome our new first-year students, and welcome back continuing students for the start of the academic year. The campus is alive – more to come!
