Rubbing the Ground in Edinburgh.

More than twenty years ago, this was where I first tried making serious frottage.
Behind Edinburgh College of Art, looking out over the Old Town, I placed paper on the ground and began to trace the city beneath my feet.

I returned to the same place this time — and did it again.

Beneath the streets of Edinburgh lies another layer of the city, sealed away during the plague and still buried underground.
The ground remembers.

エジンバラの地面を擦る。地面の記憶。

20年以上前、ここで初めて本格的にフロッタージュを始めました。
当時滞在していたエジンバラ芸術大学の裏手。旧市街を見下ろすこの場所で、地面に紙を置き、足元にある街の痕跡を写し取りました。

世界はいろんなことが変化したけど、今回同じ場所に戻ってきて、もう一度。

（エジンバラの街の下には、ペストの流行の中で閉ざされ、今も地下に残る、もう一つの街の層があります。）
