Julian Alps 122 km 16:41:43 5th
What an adventure
@julianalpstrailrun . First half went very well, legs felt strong and I really enjoyed running through the night. The course was wet, very slippery and at parts also very technical. The night was dark and the next day was foggy. So, unfortunately I didn’t see any beautiful Slovenian views.
After the longest climb of the course my legs died big time and the second half of the race was a struggle. It was very muddy and when I slipped into a mud pool and my legs started to cramp while I tried to get up, I couldn’t do anything but laugh 😂. About 10 minutes later I broke my pole when I slipped in a downhill 🤪. The mud party was guaranteed and I didn’t see anyone finishing that hadn’t slipped in the mud 🙈😅.
Somehow I managed to take me to the finish line as 5th women. I’m very happy with the result as there were many very strong runners in the field.
Overall maybe not my best performance, but a very good one anyway. Only three weeks after UTMB, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I didn’t really have any other problems than my leg muscles quitting too early.
Now it’s time to rest, recover and then start to plan for next years adventures 🤩.
