WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
This is one of the saddest books I’ve ever read, but it’s also such a beautiful exploration of the impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a person and their wider family. 🏥
This book is fiction. However, as Sophie noted, it’s “the most autobiographical work” she’s done. It tells her story prior to her diagnosis, how she fell for her husband, and the impact of her brain surgery. 🧠
I loved the ditching of the bucket list, as she noted that she’d lived a fulfilling life. Therefore, the “normal plus” notion was such a sweet idea. 🥹 It was utterly heartbreaking when, prior to her diagnosis, she said she’d had “too much luck for one person.” 😣
Don’t worry, Eve/Sophie, I had to Google to remind myself what a sextant was too! Hardly an everyday word. 🧭
Sophie Kinsella’s last ever book, published shortly before she died in 2025 from brain cancer. Rest in peace, Sophie. You were a brilliant author. 💙
Lessons:
* Appreciate every moment 🤩
* Glioblastoma is currently an incurable type of cancer 🚑
* New word: ‘Turgid’— describing something that is swollen, distended, or excessively pompous.
