Today is Vaman Jayanti.

Vishnu Bhagwan's fifth avatar didn't arrive as a warrior, a king, or a healer. He came as Vamanji, a small Brahmin boy, three feet tall, asking a mighty king for just three steps of land.

That king, Bali, was generous and beloved. But his power had grown unchecked, so much that he couldn't be content even with the heavens he had taken.

The lesson isn't that power is bad. It's that power without limits is. And you don't answer it with more force. You answer it with contentment.

When Bali finally surrendered everything, he wasn't punished. He asked only that God stay at his door, and Vamanji agreed. He lost the heavens, but gained what power never could: nearness to God.

To lose everything to God is to gain everything.
