It’s hard to write this but our Manaslu expedition is now over and il be flying back to the UK tomorrow!
Bad avalanches, a cyclone about to hit Nepal, deaths and heavy snow fall has made the mountain extremely unsafe and no longer climbable this season, I’m lucky to be safe and back in Kathmandu but this one’s a hard pill to swallow!
I’ve been very lucky the last 3 seasons to make summits including Mount Everest but this one wasn’t meant to be, I reached camp 3 just under 7,000m on rotation and felt very strong and I know for sure I’d of made the summit, after months of training hard and preparation it’s tough knowing there’s nothing you can do and the mountain always has the final say!
I want to thank everyone for your support and hopefully we’ll be back on another 8,000m expedition in the future but who knows for now!
R.I.P to the climbers who lost their lives, I had a very good team and hopefully il get to climb with you guys in the future again 🙏

Tough break mate. Gutted for you I really looking forward to the stories but the mountain isn’t going anywhere it will still be there next time. A very accomoplished mountain guide once told me that knowing when to turn back is what separates then men from the boys. You’ll be back mate✌🏼

It seems such a shame, but I’m sure everyone would rather live to see another day. Can I just ask, as I’m unsure how it all works. What happens with the financial side of it? Obviously if it’s a self funded trip without sponsors ect ( for any big expedition ) is it just a case of you pay “ x amount “ and if you summit you summit and if you don’t, you don’t? And if you don’t, you’ve got to fund it all again?
