At #UNGA81, IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez had a message for world leaders on the Strait of Hormuz: "Do not use shipping as collateral in geopolitical conflicts, where innocent seafarers do not have a voice and when everyone else in the world will be negatively affected".

Safe passage is not simply about keeping trade moving. It is about protecting people, vessel and cargo. There is no sustainable commercial passage without safety. Seafarers should never become an externality of geopolitical or commercial risk. The principle must remain clear: safe seafarers, safe ships, safe cargo — with safety non-negotiable. IMO leadership is critical in keeping this fundamental responsibility at the heart of international maritime transport. Well done @Arsenio Dominguez @imo_hq
