It’s official: my debut poetry chapbook, FAWNING, is coming out next summer with @arcanapoetrypress !!! ✨
I would not have believed this three years ago. I am so proud of myself for all the (hard) (weird) decisions I’ve had to make to get to this point. Alchemizing my pain through writing has been the greatest gift.
The week Annalise found out about her Arcana offer we celebrated hard on FaceTime. Then, Indira found out about her Arcana offer and we once again celebrated hard. Unfortunately, the way that I am, I don’t check my emails (I have ADHD & anxiety ok!!!) I actually had an email the same day as Indira in my inbox but didn’t see it until a week later. The chat was pregnant with multiple baby book deals and we didn’t know because I am ~*an idiot*~ but it all worked out 😂
SPECIAL SHOUT OUTS TO:
@beasophialovesgnocci who devoured this manuscript in its first (very rough) form, chewed on it relentlessly, and spit it back up to me with a deep understanding I had not had about my own work. I am so serious that FAWNING wouldn’t be here without you having set your eyes on it.
@jillianstacia: who is a real poets poet. Thank you for your support and friendship. So honored to be press sisters.
@annalisewrites & @lucypoet: your love and support of my poetry AND me is something I’ll hold in me for the rest of my days. You both have changed me profoundly. Annalise, thank you for always being my editor extraordinaire and for always knowing exactly what prompts to give me. Many of these poems wouldn’t exist without you. It is a dream to be on this journey with you. Lucy, thank you for being the biggest hype girl. The way you show up and care for your people is magic. I love you both to the end of time.
@littledeathpoetry: After reading PUPPY GIRL! I was like welp it’s over for you, Laur, and thats ok because Indira has this in the bag, her poetry is fucking incredible!!! To be able to be published alongside you is truly the best gift ever. FAWNING & PUPPY GIRL! are sisters and always belonged together. Just like us! 🐶🦌
