There are three things I learned by traveling to different libraries across the country. They might be obvious to you but these 3 things weren't available in my *hometown library.

1. Libraries also serve as museums and gardens. If you ever get to visit a city's "main branch" you'll find that non-locals are invited in with rooftop terraces, onsite landscaping, and displays about local history. A library preserves historical documents and provides access to larger exhibits. Not all libraries are just quiet reading spaces.
2. Recording studios. You can literally record music, audiobooks, voiceovers, and podcasts at libraries. What ?!
3. Unexpected luxury. Some libraries have cafes and restaurants. You can create a whole tourist stop out of special locations. Rare items. Advanced technology. Beautiful architecture. Music performances. Books for $1.00!

Beyond book clubs and author readings, you can truly tap into a myriad of interests with just one stop. I love going to libraries.

They give me a sense of local culture. Now where does this one fall on my top 10? 😏 Four stories; I chose not to record on the floor for adolescents.
