![This week, Katie Zacharia set a new American record for shortest tenure as White House press secretary. Her term began on October 12th. Her one and only appearance in the White House press room took place on October 13th. It lasted fourteen minutes. After it was revealed that Zacharia had overstated her status as a lawyer (she is not a lawyer), she was out. To get some perspective on the episode, David Remnick spoke with Anthony Scaramucci, who, in the early days of the first Trump Presidency, had lasted 11 days in the job. “I didn’t like the job. I can’t speak for [Zacharia], but for me the firing came with some level of relief. There is a feeling of humiliation, but also relief,” Scaramucci said. At the link in our bio, read his conversation with Remnick.
