a month agoI felt this deep in my heart. I lost my soul dog Belle in the beginning of August just 2 months shy of her 13th birthday. She like Oreo came down with health issues very rapidly. Everyday she was experiencing a new complication. I began grieving her before we lost her as I knew in my heart I was going to lose her soon. On her last day she began experiencing seizures for the first time and after making no noises for the past week and a half she began howling in pain. I took that as my sign that she was ready to go. She passed surrounded by love and family. I believe she held out one more day so I could just hold her and spend time with her. Deciding to put them to sleep isn’t easy but I knew it was the right thing to do. It was almost more painful to see her in pain and suffering. I miss her every day and she continues to give me signs that she’s with me. I know I’ll see her again. My heart goes out to your family and Oreo 💙
a month agoI lost my baby Coco last December .. she was almost 15. Like your Oreo ..age just crept on her and she had so many health issues. I didn’t want to lose her but one thing I knew is I didn’t want her to suffer. As much as it killed me j had to do right by her. It’s coming upto year without her and not a day goes by I don’t think of her wish she was still here. Sending hugs your way … I completely understand you xxx
a month agoMama, it’s time. And she’s ready. My Coco of 16 years left me in August. The greatest gift he gave me was a long life. And today, I’ve accepted his departure with ease because he lived such a good life thanks to ME! And I never had a dull moment thanks to him! He gave me everything and him leaving was letting me know that I too was ready for my next love. Two weeks ago, Coco sent me Puck- a 6 week old kitten that my friend found on the road after a car almost ran him over. When I got Puck I just inew Coco sent him. Let Oreo be. She will always work her magic for you.
a month agoI wish I could give you a big hug. I lost my soul dog on 8/30. She was also a little shih tzu. She was my baby. My little attachment. My shadow. A piece of me. I had anticipatory grief simply because of her age and how it started to show. Then one weekend a sudden unexpected illness required me to make the most brutal act of love I have ever committed. I held her in my arms as she went. I have cried every single day since then. But you make peace with knowing the decision is in the best interest of their quality of life. It doesn't make their absence any easier. Do a photoshoot with her. Give her whatever she wants. And just know you gave her the best life she could have had. Know that the grief you feel is so very valid. Our nervous systems integrate our pets into our nervous system. Our brains release the same chemicals when caring for them as a parent child bond. Hell. Pets and their humans hearts can sync up. But what is grief is not love persevering. Honor your grief and know that it is a true testament to the very real bond and love shared between you and your girl. I'm so so sorry youre going through this. These creatures are our greatest joys and deepest heartaches. Sending you love internet stranger.
a month agoYou have given Oreo the best life ever. 16 years of pure love & joy. She made it to her super senior years because of you. You’ve taken such good care of her. She’ll always be part of you. 🥹
