Most DTC brands never raise prices. Not because it failed. Because they never tested it.
Here's the test we'd run on any store. Takes 4 weeks and one spreadsheet.
1. Check your spot. Look up your 3 closest competitors on the same item. If you're way cheaper than all of them, you likely have room.
2. Pick one SKU. A steady seller. Not your hero product, and not during a sale or a launch.
3. Log a baseline. 4 weeks of page visitors, orders, and profit per order for that SKU.
4. Raise it 5 to 10%. Change nothing else. Same ads, same photos, same copy. No announcement.
5. Hold 4 weeks, then compare one number: profit per visitor. That's conversion rate times profit per order.
Why that number and not units? Because units will probably dip, and that's fine.
Say a candle brand sells at $32 with $19 profit per order and 3.0% conversion. That's $0.57 per visitor. At $35, profit per order goes to $22. Even if conversion slips to 2.8%, that's $0.62 per visitor. Fewer orders. More money. (Hypothetical numbers. Run yours.)
Profit per visitor went up? Keep the price and test the next SKU. Went down? Roll it back. You just found your ceiling, and that's worth knowing too.
Two notes. Subscribers: grandfather them in, don't surprise them. Low traffic: stretch the hold to 6 or 8 weeks so a few lucky days don't decide it for you.
Step 1 is the part we do weekly.
