A Giant River otter family play and fish in front of us at Cocha Camungo. This is the largest of the world’s 13 otter species, found only in South America, eating over 4 kgs of fish every day - they especially love piranhas 🐟. Giant river otters are a key bio indicator of water quality, an umbrella species and simply extraordinary and fascinating. An endangered species, hunted for their skin and at risk especially through habitat loss
