Golf Handicaps 101 — EP. 3 ⛳️

Your Handicap Index is not simply your average score.

Once you have 20 scores in your scoring record, your Index generally uses the best 8 Score Differentials from your most recent 20.

And here’s an important distinction:

A Score Differential isn’t just how many shots you finished over par. It also accounts for the difficulty of the course and tees you played.

So an 85 on one course isn’t necessarily equivalent to an 85 somewhere else. 📊

The simple takeaway?

👉 Your Handicap Index is designed to reflect your demonstrated ability when you’re playing well—not simply your average round.
