A close call at Birmingham Airport as Storm Boelo swept across the UK. Jet2 Flight LS1310 from Venice briefly veered onto the grass beside the runway while landing in exceptional crosswinds up to 33 knots.

Thankfully, the pilots quickly regained full control, taxiing the Boeing 737 safely to the stand. All passengers and crew disembarked normally with zero reported injuries.

They didn’t fully deflect rudderpedals until they were off the runway.. Some talk of rudder less effective at low speed. Sure. But rudderpedals are also connected to partial deflection of the noeswheel. And the plane is mostly veering off to the left with too little input on the pedals, until a very late moment. Do not know what happened, but it does seem like it might have been avoided..

Nothing beats a holiday like a Jet2 holiday. Free runway excursions at no extra cost.
