Kai Tak Airport was Hong Kong’s internationally renowned and notoriously challenging airport from 1925 until its closure in 1998. It was infamous for its dramatic, technically demanding approach, which required pilots to execute a low-altitude 47-degree visual turn over the densely populated rooftops of Kowloon City to align with the single runway that jutted into Victoria Harbour. Constrained by mountains and urban sprawl, it became one of the world’s most perilous landing spots, yet it grew to be the third-busiest international passenger airport and the busiest for cargo by 1996. Ultimately, its limited capacity and safety concerns led to its replacement by Chek Lap Kok Airport ( Hongkong international Airport) The site of the former airport is now the massive Kai Tak Development, featuring a cruise terminal, a forthcoming sports park, and residential areas, cementing its legacy as a feat of urban aviation history. by @etopsaviation

Ever wonder how airplane wings survive wild turbulence?*✈️💨
They’re built to bend, not break. 💪
Engineered with tough yet lightweight materials like carbon fiber and aluminum alloys, airplane wings flex to absorb intense air pressure.
Thanks to modern stress testing and smart design, they can handle serious shake-ups—keeping your flight safe and steady even when it gets bumpy. #aviationfacts #turbulence #flightengineering #airplanewings #aviation #howitworks #aviationgeek #pilot #avgeek #avgeeks #pilotlifestyle #aviationphotography #uçak #aviação by @etopsaviation

JetBlue Flight 292 Emergency Landing
Back in 2005, JetBlue Flight 292 made headlines when its nose landing gear jammed at a 90° angle shortly after takeoff from Burbank, California. The Airbus A320 circled for hours to burn fuel before making a dramatic emergency landing at LAX. Miraculously, the pilot landed the plane safely with no injuries onboard. A true display of skill, calm, and professionalism in aviation.

✈️ Good old times… Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 departing Munich bound for Boston back in 2024. Today we said goodbye to D-AIHW for the last time as it was ferried to Teruel. This one, D-AIHV, retired Lufthansa in January 2025. But good news are that USC Airlines bought it and is now in Manila, probably for a big overhaul before it’s back into service.

A close call at Birmingham Airport as Storm Boelo swept across the UK. Jet2 Flight LS1310 from Venice briefly veered onto the grass beside the runway while landing in exceptional crosswinds up to 33 knots.

Thankfully, the pilots quickly regained full control, taxiing the Boeing 737 safely to the stand. All passengers and crew disembarked normally with zero reported injuries. by @etopsaviation

✈️ Beautiful Lufthansa Boeing 747-8 wearing special 100th Anniversary livery seen here landing at Frankfurt Airport after a 13 hour flight from Tokyo. For me, one of the most iconic liveries ever made.
What are your thoughts?

✈️ As the Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 made its last landing at New York JFK Airport, let’s reflect on that exact moment 2 years ago. While I was doing a project filming airside, this beast came in just at the right time making one of the most memorable aviation moments for me.
This airframe, D-AIHU, was acquired by USC Airlines. Hopefully that same fate awaits the last remaining 4.

✈️ A farewell to an icon… Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 thundering into the sunset out of New York JFK! Filmed yesterday, this was my last takeoff from New York on this iconic Lufthansa quad jet and also one of their last scheduled commercial takeoffs ever. This beauty is set to be retired on 18th October after 23 years of service.
So long A340-600, hope someday somewhere I get to fly with you again… ✈️
