Can't hold the camera still I guess. Four four pounders, four more to go.

My little sleepy man 🖤

five lesson I've learnt along the way building @lsnstandard

It launches today - I don't know how it'll go but I know I've pushed myself to limits that are beyond the somewhat intolerable limits that I usually set myself - and that's all I can ask of myself.

Friday, 9:30 p.m. In just eleven hours, the first of four weekend weddings was due to begin.

My grandmother, my muse and fiercest supporter, had just departed this life to be reunited with her beloved husband and our Lord in Heaven. She carried the same grace in her final hours as she had all her life.

The love I witnessed between my grandparents inspired my life’s work long before I knew where it would lead. She instilled in our family a word she embodied: Partakanutyun.

An Armenian word that combines duty and responsibility. When people rely on you, you honour it. Not simply when you feel like it, or when circumstances allow, but because it must be done.

It is now Monday. All four weddings have been captured to perfection. Two by me, two by my incredible team, on time and as scheduled. We showed up with smiles, giving each couple the care, joy and attention they deserved. None of our couples knew of the heartbreak behind the scenes. Exactly as my grandmother Rose would have wanted and expected.

I can almost hear her saying, “You fulfilled your Partakanutyun.”

I share this not for recognition, but to honour an industry filled with people who do this every weekend. Behind the celebrations are people carrying unseen struggles, yet showing up wholeheartedly for somebody else’s most important day. Flights are cancelled, even rocket launches postponed. Yet in all my years, I’ve never seen a wedding stopped by bad weather. Somehow, the wedding goes on. And so do the people behind it.

The first photograph is of my grandmother and me at my sister’s wedding. She had suffered a brain haemorrhage a short time before. And still, she was there, looking radiant.

In the second and third photographs, I recreated their wedding portrait for my grandparents. The fourth shows the original, a photograph I’d admired since I was a boy. The photograph that started it all.

It always mesmerised me that a photographer, over seventy years ago, gave me the extraordinary gift of seeing my grandparents on their wedding day. That single photograph helped shape my purpose.

Godspeed, my beloved grandmother. We will continue to fulfil our Partakanutyun, just as you taught
