Let's take a #saturdaystroll around the historic Northumberland town of Corbridge... 🛡 and maybe grab something delicious for lunch!

Build on the banks of the River Tyne, near to Hadrian's Wall, "modern" Corbridge sits near to an even older Roman settlement, which itself makes for an interesting visit. But today, we're just here to explore a little, wandering the stone built streets, and, of course, find those treats!

The first thing to navigate is a narrow road bridge which spans the river. Built in 1674 to replace earlier crossings, it offers picturesque views of the town, and, once you've waited your turn to cross, free parking awaits on the south bank. Yes, free!!! 🤩

From the bridge, we wander up steep pathways into the village, passing small independent shops along the way. We don't have time for more than a quick look in, as we only have one target: Grant's Bakery and Patisserie! 🍽😋 Soon, we have a prized seat and are ready to order. Let's just take a moment to peruse that bakery case! 🤤🤤

Today's lunch will be Northumbrian pasties: delicious savoury, the buttery pastry is filled with a thick beef stew and potato. Served piping hot, it hits the spot perfectly, for despite the sunshine, there's a chill autumnal breeze outside.

Of course, one does not visit Grant's without sweet treats! Today, we are splitting a sticky toffee dessert and a beautiful apple mousse. The mousse has an apple compote centre, and is encased in a white chocolate shell, whilst the toffee dessert is decadent and rich. 😋

Thank goodness for those pretty village streets - we better walk the long way back to the car, as we're going to need those steps!
