Summer seems just a moment gone, yet the wild winds of autumn now howl outside. There, in the gentle sunlight, this curious seal basked upon the flotsam as we passed by, across the calm waters.

I wonder how they'll fair against the storms. Time to dive deep below the waves and escape the torrents, just as we dice below the extra covers, and wait for time to pass until we journey somewhere warmer!

Also, he kind of reminds me of me after a session at 'Ohana! 🍽🤩

Happy #greyseal Sunday, everyone! 🦭

Friday!!! Woohooooo.... Maui has some suggestions on how make the most of a chill, rainy Friday night! 😴😴in front of the fire 🔥😻

How about you? Does Friday mean it's time to party? Or more like falling into a well-earned slumber with a bag of M&S chocolate pistachio bite thingies, watching three and a half episodes of Scrubs? by @ourmagicjourneys

"When Dave the puffin developed a curious orange patch on his underbelly, all the guys were queuing up to take a look..." 🔎🧐🐧🐧🐧🤣

Happy Seabird Sunday, everyone! 🦤

And now, a study in Lapu Lapu-ing.

Stage 1: That first nostalgic sip. It's always good when one reacquaints with the Tambu Lounge classic! 🍍🍹

Stage 2: Admire its beauty, seen here, in its natural Polynesian habitat. 🤩🌴🧐

Stage 3: A word of caution - the Lapu Lapu is not to be shared. 🚫 One must find one's own journey, even when the path is travelled together. 🥰🥰

Stage 4: The effects of Lapu-ing are not to be underestimated... 🤪

Or ignored 🤣

Stage 5: Lapus are 'Ohana - and family never gets left behind... 🍍🍍🤩🤩

Stage 6: Fin. 🤪🤪

Well, folks, it's almost mid-October, and I haven't posted anything autumnal yet. 🍁 I was reeling through our photos and found California on my mind. It may not be the first place one thinks of in a season epitomised by golden colours and falling leaves, But still, a year on from our visit to The Happiest Place on Earth, my thoughts drift back there, to where the magic began.

DCA was far more beautiful and whimsical than I'd imagined, and my only regret is that our busy schedule could only accommodate one day in this unique park. I hope we can return there one day.

In the meantime, happy Sunday, all, and happy autumn! 🍂 Mickey sure looks pleased about it!

This isn't a puffin. It's a penguin 🐧 in disguise... 😜😜

Happy #seabirdsaturday everyone! Hope you're all winging your way into a great weekend!

Just for fun, who wants to offer a name for this bashful chap?

I'll start with... Zorro! by @ourmagicjourneys

Our next port of call in the town of Corbridge, is the Pele Tower. 🚩🚩As striking stone edifices, pele towers once offered protection to a town as a fortified place to store valuables and treasures from the ransacking hordes. The tiny doorway ensured access could be easily controlled and readily defended from tiny slot windows on the upper levels 🏹🏹

Today, Corbridge's pele tower still contains a treasure! And that treasure is... a bar! Stooping through the doorway leads visitors past a stone staircase and into a chamber filled with liquid gold! 🍺 From local draft ales to bottled ciders, there is something here for all tastes! Our drinks in hand, we ascended the steep tower steps to the upper floor, and found there a delightful fireplace and, yes, those tiny windows I mentioned earlier, from which one might spot advancing marauders! 🏹🏹😜 coming to steal your pint! "Go boil your bottoms, son of a silly person... Begone! Or I will taunt you a second time!" 😉🤣

For the less faint of heart, an even smaller arched doorway leads to an even higher level, a glass mezzanine in the rafters, and being only around midday, we had the place almost to ourselves. We lingered a while, imagining what it may be like to take refuge in this tiny "castle." The sense of history was unmistakable, and it seemed quite profound and moving to be sat relaxing in this place, that had once been a vital stronghold. Or maybe that was just the beer talking! 😊

All too soon, it was time to set off for home, and we made our way back down the precipitous steps once more. (Always return your glasses and bottles to the bar, it's just medi-eval not to! 🤪⚔️) It seemed to us we had found quite a treasure, and we shall return!

Let's take a #saturdaystroll around the historic Northumberland town of Corbridge... 🛡 and maybe grab something delicious for lunch!

Build on the banks of the River Tyne, near to Hadrian's Wall, "modern" Corbridge sits near to an even older Roman settlement, which itself makes for an interesting visit. But today, we're just here to explore a little, wandering the stone built streets, and, of course, find those treats!

The first thing to navigate is a narrow road bridge which spans the river. Built in 1674 to replace earlier crossings, it offers picturesque views of the town, and, once you've waited your turn to cross, free parking awaits on the south bank. Yes, free!!! 🤩

From the bridge, we wander up steep pathways into the village, passing small independent shops along the way. We don't have time for more than a quick look in, as we only have one target: Grant's Bakery and Patisserie! 🍽😋 Soon, we have a prized seat and are ready to order. Let's just take a moment to peruse that bakery case! 🤤🤤

Today's lunch will be Northumbrian pasties: delicious savoury, the buttery pastry is filled with a thick beef stew and potato. Served piping hot, it hits the spot perfectly, for despite the sunshine, there's a chill autumnal breeze outside.

Of course, one does not visit Grant's without sweet treats! Today, we are splitting a sticky toffee dessert and a beautiful apple mousse. The mousse has an apple compote centre, and is encased in a white chocolate shell, whilst the toffee dessert is decadent and rich. 😋

Thank goodness for those pretty village streets - we better walk the long way back to the car, as we're going to need those steps!

How about you? See anything you'd like from the bakery case? 😜

As Walt Disney World turns 55, I never find myself asking, "Why do I keep going back there?"

That was a short caption. 😉
